Classmate Conversation Week 8 with Ali Garawi

This week I became acquainted with my fellow classmate Ali Garawi. He is a third year business major. He has plans of opening his own real estate firm once he finishes school. Me and Ali discussed the questions of the week.

The first question asked by Carlos was, “What is a piece of art, of any medium, that you would like to share with everyone? Why do you like it and why do you think others should experience (read, see, listen to, etc.) it?”

Ali said that the Mona Lisa would have to be on the top of his list. He thinks it is a great piece of art because it is worth so much money and is beloved by so many people. We both agreed that that this piece of art should be experienced because it is one of the greats and should be appreciated by everyone because it is an exceptional piece of art. I picked the The Ecstacy of Saint Theresa. I love the Ecstacy because it is such a dramatic piece of art. The sculpture is capturing the moment that a human had contact with an angel, which is a moment that man people dream of. Also the attention to detail is stellar and should be appreciated by everyone.

The next question asked, “Would you be supportive of your child wanting to pursue an art career? Why or why not?”

Ali said he would not support their child with following a career in art. Ali would not support his kids because artist do not make a steady constant salary. I see what Ali is talking about. The idea of following an art degree can be daunting because it isn’t the most high paying or applicable study. Yet I would still support my child’s decision. I believe life shouldn’t be about making the most money and dying. If you don’t work the skill that you want then you are going to be miserable, because you won’t be able devote yourself to it. When you are able to put passion into what you do it becomes fun and effortless. When things are easy you excel in the subject. That is why I would support my child. I would still have to have a talk with him about always having a plan B just encase.

The question asked by Glenn is, “What apps do you share?”

Ali and I both had these 4 apps: Netflix,eBay, and Zillow.
